Leslie Laver, Rear Gunner
Left: Leslie's home in Pannmure Road, South London - the family lived mainly in the basement (their side door is the one facing the side gate). There was also an upstairs sitting room where all gathered for sing-songs round a piano on which Leslie loved tinkering.
Below: Leslie as a boy.

Left: His brother Wally and sister Jessie at Pannmure Road - the only family members to survive into old age and to give their memories of Leslie.

Note the two cats (and the dog in the picture above with Leslie) - the family was very fond of pets.

Left: With his girldfriend, Doris.

She gave him this picture and on the back, with nine crosses for kisses, she wrote 'To my own darling'.

The picture was returned to the family with his personal effects after his death.

Left: His brother Cyril as a boy and his mother Jenny

Cyril joined the Army and became a POW. The remaining photos show his homecoming in 1946, long after his younger brother's death
